A darkened sky over Lubbock threatened some much needed rain on Tuesday, April 30, but instead teased much of the Hub City with droplets and verga and a brief blast of near-gale-force winds.
Some locations around Lubbock recorded between a trace and 0.01 inches of rain, National Weather Service forecaster Mark Ziebell said. Meanwhile, while some real rain fell elsewhere.
Near Lake Alan Henry, Ziebell said, about a third of an inch of rain fell.
He said the strong winds that briefly swept the city were the result of very high level storm that created strong downdrafts.
